Nelson's Market Gardens

Nelson's Market Gardens was established in 1982, starting with a range of outdoor vegetables.

In 1991 we took over the Birsay Tomato nursery and in 2006 added the Tearoom adjacent to the nursery.

With the opening of the Tearoom came a change to our workload and hence the amount of Produce we could grow on the Market Garden. We are continuing the Tomato crops for general sale throughout Orkney, but have had to curtail production of our other crops and now only produce them for use in the Tearoom or for sale through our Farm Shop. We have also started growing a few crops exclusively for use in the Tearoom Salad Bar. Occasionally these crops are also available from the Farm Shop.
